Christmas, 2009
Christmas Greetings, dear family and friends,
2009 was a year of celebration! A new President was inaugurated, niece Allison married her Jeff Pillow, we celebrated the lives of the great American writer, Bill Hoffman, and Brigadier General Tracy Gentry, and many of us celebrated our 60th birthdays!
I have a particular reason to celebrate but some might not understand why. I have lived, really LIVED, with ALS for ten years! I have my caregivers to thank for the exquisite care they constantly give me. As I have said many times before, God is not done with me yet and I celebrate His goodness to me.
The Sniktaws had a great week at Topsail where, I’m extremely proud to say, the fourth generation is continuing the Sniktaw tradition of skinny-dipping. That’s a reason to celebrate!
My great niece Sidney is quite a little character, whose parents, niece Emily and her Gary, are doing such a great job raising her. Sid loves the ocean and can do a fist pump in celebration of whatever!
My college buddies, aka “The Red Hot Tamales”, visited twice. Every time we are together, it’s a celebration. I am so blessed to have have these wonderful women as lifetime friends!
Opera Night is thriving with new people. We have watched and heard some wonderful productions, notably the great Zeffirelli setting of Puccini’s “Turandot”!
The Starlets and Movie Night are celebrating about 9 years since we first began this get together. My having ALS may have been the catalyst for starting this but Movie Night now has a life of its own! The Starlets are among the best cooks on the planet.
Once again, my garden was a celebration of beautiful sight and Heavenly aromas. I am indebted to my Master Gardener friends and caregivers for their help for keeping it from becoming a jungle!
I just celebrate life and all it brings to me through God’s grace!
Happy Yule, y’all, and may 2010 give you many occasions to celebrate!!!
Love,
Margy
